Greetings from the TPO President City

On behalf of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) and Busan Metropolitan City, it is with immense joy and honor that I welcome each and every one of you to the 12th TPO General Assembly, being hosted in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

I wish to extend special recognition and gratitude to Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, H.E. Nguyen Van Duoc, as well as the dedicated team from the city government. Their unwavering commitment and efforts have made this significant gathering possible.

This year, the General Assembly is focusing on the theme of ‘Shaping the Future of Tourism: Embracing Digital and Green Transformations’. The green and digital transformations of the tourism industry are essential to strengthen the ability to respond to crises and secure sustainable growth. To this end, the active role of each city government is very important, and the cooperation of our member cities will also be needed in pursuit of these goals. It rests upon our combined 131 member cities to pool their knowledge, foster collaboration, and devise strategies that will lead to mutual growth and prosperity.

As the President City of the TPO, Busan has demonstrated leadership to advance the TPO’s globalization mission and foster international cooperation within the tourism sector. In order to leap forward as an international organization Busan intends to provide, with participation from global tourism cities, a platform for exchanging tourism policies of local governments and work to enhance the city brand under the title of ‘Global Tourism Summit’.

The summit will propose a roadmap for the future of the tourism industry by laying down the foundations for the global agenda of the tourism sector in the 21st century, as well as pursue the sustainable development of local communities. Strategic directions and policies set by the TPO GA will be put into action and implemented through the summit. As such, we humbly request your special interest and participation in the summit.
